Council, council tax and representatives

Which council, ward and constituency a place is in, what each council tax band costs there, and who represents it.

Use it

Each band pays a fixed share of Band D, set in law: band A pays 6/9 of it and band H 18/9.

Example

If a borough's average Band D is £1,800 a year, band A pays £1,200, band E £2,200 and band H £3,600. An area whose postcodes sit 70% in one ward and 30% in another lists the councillors of both wards.

How we calculate it

The fine print
  • Council tax figures are borough averages, including an average parish charge. A council's own band amounts can differ from ours by pennies.
  • Each home's band is set from its value in 1991; we do not know the band of a single home.
  • Postcodes are placed in wards and constituencies by their ONS grid reference.
  • A councillor who stood down without a by-election may still be listed.
