Household income
An official estimate of typical yearly household income for the wider neighbourhood (MSOA) the area sits in.
Use it
Example
If the MSOA estimate is £52,000 a year, all the LSOAs inside it show £52,000, even if one street is much better off than the next.
How we calculate it
- The Office for National Statistics models household income for each MSOA from survey and administrative data.
- We show that MSOA figure on each LSOA inside it, and label it as an MSOA figure.
The fine print
The estimate describes a whole neighbourhood; it says nothing about any one household.
MSOA
Estimated household income
Model-based gross disposable household income at the published MSOA geography.
- Income is modelled at MSOA level and is not an estimate for an individual household.
