Clean air
How much nitrogen dioxide (NO₂) the air holds where an area's homes are, from the GLA's model of London's air.
Use it
Example
An area whose homes read 18, 21 and 27 µg/m³ shows NO₂ 22.0 µg/m³: above the WHO guideline of 10, under the UK legal limit of 40.
How we calculate it
- The London Atmospheric Emissions Inventory 2022 models yearly mean NO₂ and PM2.5 on a 20 m grid.
- Each home is read at its OS Open UPRN point; the area value is the mean over its homes.
- The map colours each neighbourhood by its NO₂; the area card adds PM2.5 and London's rank.
The fine print
- Modelled yearly means, not measurements; levels next to a busy road change within metres.
- Areas with fewer than 10 homes read show no value.
